2006 Brevard Child and Adolescent Community Health Assessment

This report shows the results of the child and adolescent community health Assessment done in 2006. All four counties (Brevard, Orange, Osceola and Seminole) participated in this first-ever study in the region and it serves a complement to the 2004 adult community health assessment (see below).

Health Indicator Areas Assessed

  • Perceived Health Issues - Perceived number-one child health issues, perceived number-one adolescent health issues
  • Daily Life - Relationships, transience, childcare arrangements, after-school activities
  • Maternal and Infant Health - Low-weight births, prenatal care, breastfeeding, mothers returning to work, parenting education
  • Children's/Adolescents' Health Status - Overall health, special needs health, weight and healthy living, mental health, injury and safety
  • Healthcare Services - Primary source of care, preventitive health care services
  • Adolescent Risk Behaviors - Tobacco use, alcohol use, peer behavior, education about risk 

2004 Brevard Community Health Assessment

This report represents the results of a regional adult community health assessment conducted by the Health Council of East Central Florida with the assistance of Professional Research Consultants. The assessment was done previously in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties in 1999 and Brevard was added in 2004. They had very large data sets with thousands of families surveyed and the results can be generalized to the entire county and even in many cases down to the North, Central and South county areas of Brevard.
